Maximum Operating Pressure

The maximum allowable pressure in bar g for which the equipment is designed as specified by the manufacturer.

Volume

The internal volume of the pressure vessel or steam generator in litres.

Nominal Size

The internal diameter of the pipe in mm.

PED Does Not Apply to Pressures Less Than 0.5 barg.

SEP (Sound Engineering Practice)


Sound Engineering Practice means that the pressure equipment is designed taking into account all relevant factors influencing its safety. Furthermore, such equipment is manufactured, verified and delivered with instructions for use in order to ensure its safety during its intended life, when used in foreseeable or reasonably foreseeable conditions. The manufacturer is responsible for the application of sound engineering practice.

This application determines the category of equipment in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) (2014/68/EU) for pressure vessels based on gas or liquid group, equipment type, volume and pressure. The application also lists which modules are suitable for each category. Please note that anything on the line between categories defaults to the higher category
